Chapter 139: FRIDA - 139
Frida’s Pov:
As the seventh prince left Master Wind made a suggestion "You did not ask our permission before you brought the girl into our group, they are not very happy with your decision and feel she would only slow us down and be a weakness to the group."
Master Song looked very disturbed "She needs to earn their trust if she ever wants to be treated like one of us." Master wind said.
"How about a simple test to see whether we should accept her. Let her slip into Lord West’s manor and retrieve something valuable, be it information or jewels anything that will be a great contribution to the group."
"This is not a group she can join if she is not ready to die at any time, you know that right?" The master wind convinced him.
"But the seventh prince?" master song said.
"Will not miss her, even if she dies." Master wind said and she gulped her own saliva in fear.
"I hate this more than anything...what is your name?" he asked.
She thought about it carefully "Frida."
"Frida?" he repeated "Sounds foreign?"
She quickly came up with a lie "My parents are from a neighboring kingdom they migrated here but died from a strange illness. I’ve been alone ever since."
She hoped they bought her lies or she would be totally ruined.
"Sounds true enough." he shrugged and they both laughed.
Then suddenly the master wind threw a knife at her and it missed her slightly.
"we’ve been in this business long enough to tell a lie girlie don’t insult us." he grunted.
A lump lodged in her throat from fear "I ran away from home." I said simply.
"One small threat and she’s spitting out everything, yikes you’ve got your work cut out for you, master song." master wind sighed. "Bring the knife."
"There’s a social gathering in Lord West mansion, go there and find something golden...if you come back alive, you will become one of us." he told her and she nodded and left with no directions on were master wests residence was.
She sighed walking along the streets "How on earth am I gonna find master wests mansion?" she questioned herself regretting not even asking questions.
"They are sharing provisions at master Wests mansion." she heard a man whispering to another man in the market.
"Really?" the other man exclaimed and rushed towards somewhere she didn’t know but she followed him cautiously from behind until they reached the mansion.
She had to change her clothes.
This was her first mission...with no training, no instructions she was sent into a social gathering organized by a Lord West page didn’t even know, she was sure they were hoping she would die.
She was hoping she would somehow get home back to the ward so she wouldn’t have to go through any of this.
She grabbed clothes off the laundry line outside of someone’s house. She put on the male clothes before going in.
Of course laziel and master west wanted to test her, he doubted her capabilities because she was a woman, they didn’t trust her, they felt she was weak.
Who knew laz would be such an asshole in this lifetime she thought observing the event as she followed the pile of guests into the mansion, she stood behind a man and swiped an Invitation that fell from a ladies purse.
It was a gathering to showcase his new discovery from his travels, she had no idea what she was meant to do there dressed plainly not enough to be mistaken for a servant but not also a high rank.
They dressed her as a common person with little status.
Blending in and being a wallflower was the key to getting work done, the ability to never draw attention.
In the the physical state it looked like everyone was simply drinking their hearts out and partying, but deeper than the surface she heard conversations that would have her ears cut off if she even pretended to hear it.
They whispered of the greatness of the sixth prince and the incompetence of the crown prince. "The sixth prince is very promising, he has gathered allies far superior than the crown princes court and is closer to the emperor than the crown prince.
"if the crown prince isn’t careful he would be eliminated by the sixth prince’s incredible wit and excellent manners with his outrageous growing number of supporters." the minister Alan and Minister Link discussed in hushed tones but one of the lesser commented.
"This is a dangerous discussion, ministers I shall excuse myself." the young man said and slipped away.
"Those without ambition remain at the very bottom." Minister Alan scoffed and continued his discussion with Minister Link.
Meanwhile she walked a bit further into the room where the general and a colonel were deep in discussion "The third prince although stoic is incredibly intelligent passing the state exam as the top student in the whole empire. I say he is the brightest among his brothers."
"Indeed he shows promise." General Eldon responded to colonel Rust.
She had to rub her neck from the brief flash of her being beheaded at the mention of a certain name "Saint Darwin, the head of financial affairs, had signed a document on the development of Yellow village yet little to no progress had been made. They were suspecting that the finance." Colonel rust told general Eldon who sipped his drink.
"Are you suggesting that the saint has embezzled funds?" he asked and colonel gave a brief nod.
The generals sharp eyes scanned the room and she took that for her exit disappearing back into the crowd only to collid with someone.
"Oh sorry." She paused her eyes landing on the symbolic golden crest on his chest and her heart stopped beating as she recognized it.
She dropped to her knees and bowed her head to the ground "Greetings crown prince."
Everyone followed her in perfect order "Greetings crown prince."
Sweat trailed from her neck to her back, she was scared out of her mind as he walked past her.
The gathering continued and she wanted to quietly disappear that’s when she heard a voice say "You that bumped into me halt, turn around."
