Chapter 105 : THIRD POV.
"I hope you can do me the courtesy of making that happen," he said before walking out and closing the door behind him.
He was probably heading downstairs right now to call the people they’d saved over to her quarters.
’For a weakling... he sure knows how to act tough from time to time,’ Priscilla thought to herself, chuckling softly.
She raised a large, white-furred hand to adjust her hat, feeling the exact spots where his fingers had just been smoothing out the brim.
The more time she spent with this man, the more she found him more and more appealing to the eye.
It wasn’t just about his looks, though his human form wasn’t bad to look at. It was his strange, unbothered attitude.
Most men she encountered would either try to fight her to prove something, run away screaming, or grovel at her feet for mercy.
Jacob did none of those things. He treated her like a person, even while knowing exactly how dangerous she was.
At least, compared to the ones she’d met over the years, she preferred being around him the most. He was organized, he was smart, and he knew how to make her feel like an actual person.

Moments later, as per their discussion, Jacob brought Rudwig and his group up to the upper deck area. Priscilla didn’t sit behind a desk like a boring official. Instead, she stood by the wooden balcony overlooking the lower section of the deck, staring down at them alongside Jacob, who stood a half-step behind her left shoulder.
The wind caught her long coat, making it flap around her legs and giving her an incredibly powerful, legendary look.
The small group of survivors stood huddled together near the main mast. The three maids were still trembling, they’d gotten new attire but since there were no female attire on board, they were forced to where mens clothing.
While the chubby blonde man, Rudwig, held the silver-haired girl close to his side.
"What’s the meaning of this?" The young man was the first to speak, his expression deeply wary as he stared up at them both. His voice was rough and cracked, likely from swallowing too much saltwater earlier.
Whether intentional or not, he stood forward, placing his lean body directly in the path between the balcony and the others, shielding the little girl hiding behind Rudwig even more.
His dark eyes narrowed into a faint glare. He looked like a stray dog cornered in an alley, ready to bite anyone who took another step toward his pack.
"I’m afraid we haven’t the foggiest idea what you’re talking about. My dear captain simply wanted to have a chat with you lot. Is something wrong with that?" Jacob said, frowning a bit at the young man’s open hostility.
He stepped up to the edge of the railing, looking down at the man with a highly disappointed expression.
Didn’t this guy understand his situation? Jacob wondered to himself, his annoyance growing by the second.
The lot of them were on their ship, out in the middle of the vast sea, completely alone. They had no weapons, no backup, no escape boat, and half of them were too weak to even stand properly without leaning against the walls.
Yet he still dared to act like this, throwing glares at his captain who could snap his spine with two fingers.
Being wary of someone who just rescued you was fine, it was actually smart in a world filled with monsters, but showing it outright so aggressively was definitely stupid.
At times like these, if wouldn’t hurt for one to learn restraint.
Or did he think there was nothing he and Priscilla could do to him? Did he think their kindness in saving them from the cage meant they were harmless saints who would tolerate his bad attitude?
"Now now, Flounder, you heard our benefactor. There’s no need to be so tense," Rudwig said hurriedly, stepping forward and patting the young guy on the shoulder to drag him back a bit.
The chubby man’s forehead was covered with bits of sweat despite the cool air, his round face turning a bit pale as he saw the frown on Jacob’s face.
Unlike the boy, Rudwig understood exactly how defenseless they were.
"They merely wish to talk," Rudwig said, trying to smooth things over with a placating tone.
He then glanced up at Jacob and Priscilla, his blue eyes wide with an anxious hope. "Right?" he asked, his voice wavering just a tiny bit on the last word.
Jacob was silent for a moment, letting the quiet splashing of the waves fill the air as he let his frown disappear.
He didn’t want to terrify them, but he needed them to know who was in charge of this vessel.
"Yes...." Jacob finally spoke, his voice carrying clearly across the deck.
"We meant no harm in calling you all here. But I’m afraid my captain was just curious about a few things," Jacob added, leaning his hands against the wooden railing and looking down at them with a calmer expression.
"We just saved you from a group of very bad pirates who were flying a specific flag. We would like to know who we just pulled out of the water, and why those men were so determined to drown you lot."
’ Especially the girl....’ he said the last part to himself.
’You mean you were curious,’ Priscilla said to herself, her eyes sliding sideways to look at Jacob.
She didn’t say the words out loud, keeping her face perfectly still and majestic as he had instructed her to do, but she was amused by how easily he lied.
He was the one who wanted all the details; she just wanted to know if there was anyone left to punch.
"Of course, of course, if you’d like to know anything, please, feel free to ask. We’d be happy to oblige... but..." Rudwig said, his voice trailing off as he hesitated.
AN: This is so adorable, the captain’s beginning to grow fond of poor little Jacob. I hope this is a good thing. Also, I wonder how the two sisters will take this if they ever find out hehehe.
